Donnerubin - Top Ranking Dressage Pedigree
Donnerubin is a double cross of the strongly inheritable Donnerhall bloodline crossed with Rubinstein I – closely related to Damon Hills bloodlines.
These bloodlines have proven for over a decade to be the most successful bloodlines in top international dressage horses. In the 2016 WBFSH Sire rankings Donnerhall bloodlines yet again holds the most spots for easily the 10th year in a row,. 3 spots out of the top 10 are Donnerhall bloodline stallions now producing the highest number of international dressage horses which no other bloodline achieves. As the years go on the Donnerhall bloodline continues to dominate the breeding of the worlds top dressage horses.
Donnerubin - Grand Prix start will be a NZ first
Donnerubin is the first stallion in NZ history that has been produced from a foal to Grand Prix by one person. That’s with a rider who never had ridden above Level 5 dressage before him! That speaks volumes to his temperament and natural talent.
Progeny Proving the Pedigree
The highly inheritable Donnerhall gene has resulted in Donnerubin’s progeny being National Champions who are now under saddle as young horses. In New Zealand Donnerubin is a sire of the highest number of National Champions in Level 1 and 2 Dressage in the 2016-19 seasons.
At Horse of the Year in 2019 - both the level 1 amateur (Lucy Russell and Donneroyale and the level 1 open champions Rosanne Rix and Lindisfarne Danseur were both by Donnerubin.

2016-2019 (last updated August 2019) - Donnerubin was the highest represented sire - who's progent were in the top 10 placegetters at National Dressage Championships and HOYS Championships for Levels 1-3 (which level depends on the season, as the levels get higher as the oldest progeny progress and get older).
At the 2017 National Dressage Championships Donnerubin was the Sire of both the Champion and Reserve Champion of the Level 1 Amateur Championship and the Champion of the Level 2 Amateur Championship. Also the Rakanui Trophy for the best performed mare was by Donnerubin.
At the 2017 Horse of the Year Show Donnerubin was the Sire of 4 out of the top 7 horses in the Level 2 Championship including the Champion.
In the 2016-17 Super 5 South Island Series in Level 2, Donnerubin was the sire of 3 out of 4 of the top horses including Champion and Reserve.
On the 2016-17 South Island Zilco MFS Level 2 Series Donnerubin was the sire of 3 out of 4 of the top horses including Champion and Reserve.
On the 2016-17 Prestige National Award scoreboard there were a total of 10 horses by Donnerubin and he was the Sire of the overall Champion.
Donnerubin's Diversity
Donnerubin progeny are also doing extremely well in Eventing and Showing. His progeny are winning multiple championships both in-hand and under saddle in the show ring. Donnerubin is also the Sire of the 2017 National Eventing young horse Champion so he is proving a very versatile stallion across multiple disciplines.
Donnerubin youngstock are renowned for being level headed “old souls”. Together with their wonderful temperaments they have the conformation and bio-mechanics to be the Champions that they are. Perhaps more importantly the humans in their lives are calling them their once in a lifetime horse.

So come and join the Donnerubin family, we are having so much fun, there is a really supportive vibe amongst the riders/owners of the Donnerubin progeny (which makes me super proud). But book in fast, Donnerubin's studbook is capped, and is usually full up by the end of August. HOWEVER, we do usually re-open the studbook in November and let more mares in, but only once the October mares come back with positive pregnancy tests. So book in early to avoid dissapointment!
