NZWA Stallion Classification

NZWA Stallion Licensing

The New Zealand Warmblood Horse Association (NZWA) has a classification process in place to inspect colts and stallions.

From 2026 onwards, all stallion passing licensing must also pass Performance Testing Criterea in order to be considered fully licenced, and for the progeny to be eligible for entry into Register 1.  Please see the Breed Regulations for more details.

Further to classification and licensing, stallions that achieve significant success (either individually or via their progeny) can be elevated within the stud book to Principal or Elite status.
